At Made For Trade, maintaining a reliable and consistent service for our customers is one of our biggest priorities.
Over recent months, our OTIF delivery performance has not consistently met the standards that either we or our customers expect. We recognise the impact this can have on your businesses and projects, and we would like to thank you for your patience and continued support.
As part of our ongoing work to strengthen our operations, we have taken the decision to diversify our glazing supply chain, reducing our reliance on a single source and creating greater flexibility across our manufacturing operation.
From deliveries week commencing 7th September, a significant percentage of our glazed units will begin to be supplied through additional glazing partners.
Building a more resilient supply chain
This is an important step in improving the resilience of our supply chain.
By working with multiple glazing suppliers, we can reduce pressure on any one source and give ourselves greater flexibility to move production volumes between suppliers when necessary.
This will help us respond more effectively to fluctuations in demand, production pressures or unexpected supply issues, while supporting the consistent service levels our customers expect from Made For Trade.
We also expect the change to help improve overall product availability and reduce the likelihood of disruption affecting customer orders.
As different suppliers operate slightly differently, there will be some small changes to our processes which customers should be aware of.
Korniche Roof Lanterns
Some glazed units supplied for Korniche Roof Lanterns may arrive with tape around the edges of the glass.
This has been fully tested and will not affect installation or the operation of the glazing retainers.
When discussing roof glazing with our Customer Service team, you may also occasionally be asked to check the kite mark on the unit. This simply allows us to confirm which glazing supplier manufactured the unit and ensure enquiries are handled as quickly as possible.
Korniche Bifold Doors
There will be a change to the ordering cut-off times for glazed Korniche Bifold Doors.
Glazed Orders:
Orders placed after 10:00am on Friday of Week 1 will now normally be delivered in Week 4 rather than Week 3.
For non-account customers, the same cut-off will apply to orders where payment is received after this time.
Unglazed Orders:
There is no change to unglazed orders, which can continue to be placed up to close of business on Friday and still preserve week 3 delivery.
Korniche Bifold and Sliding Doors
There will also be a change to the delivery process for replacement glazing units.
Courier delivery will no longer be available for remake units. Where a remake is reported during Week 1, the replacement unit will normally be delivered during Week 3 using Made For Trade’s own transport network.
As our glazing supply becomes more resilient, we expect to see a reduction in the number of remake units required.
Continuing to improve our service
This change is part of a wider focus across Made For Trade on improving reliability, strengthening our supply chain and ensuring our customers receive the service they expect from us.
We’ve listened closely to customer feedback, and we know that recent delivery performance has caused frustration for some customers. Diversifying our glazing supply chain gives us considerably more flexibility and puts us in a stronger position to maintain consistent service levels.
