We’re proud to be the UK’s largest manufacturer of Aluminium Roof Lanterns and Bi-fold Doors, and the home of the multi-award-winning Korniche brand.
The Korniche brand, launched in 2016, revolutionised the fenestration industry with its disruptive approach. Led by Managing Director, Bradley Gaunt, and his brother, Technical Director Ashley Gaunt (a former motorsport engineer), Korniche products are known for their innovative features and focus on precision engineering. The Korniche Aluminium Roof Lantern set new standards for ease of installation, while the Bi-folding Door became a top seller due to its unique features and competitive price. Korniche offers unbeatable quality, expertly engineered products, and exceptional service, all at competitive prices.
Made For Trade employs a team of over 200 highly trained personnel, operating from 250,000 square feet of production space across three dedicated fabrication units. We deliver direct to build and trade sites across the entire UK, ensuring a safe and efficient service.
Our History
Early Growth & Transformation (1980s – 2000s)
- 1979: Founded as Aanco by Richard Gaunt.
- 1980s & 1990s: Established a strong reputation for quality in the Tees Valley area, transitioning from retail to trade.
- Early 2000s: Bradley Gaunt joined the team, revolutionising production with lean manufacturing.
- 2005: The Made For Trade name was officially established.
Korniche Innovation and Award-Winning Products (2016 – Present)
- 2016: Launched the Korniche brand with the Aluminium Roof Lantern.
- 2018: Awarded The Charles Godfrey Award For Innovation.
- 2019: Introduced the highly successful Korniche Bi-Folding Door.
- 2019: Named Best Roof Lantern System at the Conservatory & Orangery Awards.
- 2020: Relocated to a new three-factory site in Wynyard.
- 2020: Awarded Best Rooflight Supplier at the Homebuilding & Renovating Awards.
- 2021: Awarded Rooflight Supplier of the Year at the Homebuilding & Renovating Awards.
- 2022: Won Best Roofing System / Product at the Build It Awards and Aluminium Fabricator of the Year at the National Fenestration Awards. We also picked up multiple accolades at the North East Business Awards, including the Manufacturing Award Regional, High Growth & Ambition Award and the Manufacturing Award Grand Final.
- 2023: Celebrated our 40th anniversary. Secured three National Fenestration Awards: Aluminium Fabricator of the Year, Conservatory Product of the Year, and Bi-folding Door Manufacturer of the Year. We also received a Professional Builder Top Product Award for the Korniche Speedbead.
- 2024: Launched the Korniche Flat Glass and were bestowed The King’s Award For Enterprise in Innovation.
- 2024: Achieved a double win at the National Fenestration Awards for Conservatory Product of the Year and Bi-folding Door Manufacturer of the Year.
- 2025: Released the Korniche Upstand and the Korniche FlatLite.
- 2025: Joined the Council for Aluminium in Building
